Frequently Asked Questions from our Schools, Community & Sports Groups...
Q. What happens
with the domain name ownership and control in the immediate future?
A. The school’s current domain name would remain
unchanged. There are too many departmental directories built around the domains
to introduce a change. We are intending to host the web site on our own
servers. So the web address will be redirected. The public will not know the
difference – this is a back end process only. The reason for this is to have
control over a very complex process of loading sponsors on to the sites and to
also run extensive reports on traffic required to prove numbers to sponsors.
Q. What happens to our current website?
A. Our web developers take your existing site and populate your new site with the same information, so nothing is lost.
Q. What features does a sponsor-ed website have?
A. In order to get families to have their school website as their homepage, we understand the site needs to be dynamic, informative and useful.
- Four publishing frames on the homepage that you can change the content of anytime with the CMS
- Weather widget with the day's forecast
- Google, to search your school site and the web
- Dynamic Event Calendar you can update anytime.
- A masthead tailored to your schools colours and/or photo and your school's logo

Q. Will we be able to interface with Ultranet?
A. Yes, when the Ultranet is available we will be able to accommodate it
Q. What if I have technical problems with my site?
A. We have a help desk that can help you through email or over the phone. Please visit the Technical Support section under Support on the homepage.
Q. What is a CMS?
A. CMS stands for Content Management System. This is a program that provides you with the framework to upload, store, control and publish information on your website. The sponsor-ed CMS is easy to use, if you can email and use Word or Powerpoint, you can use the CMS.
Q. How can sponsor-ed give us a free website?
A. We have created a unique concept whereby we give schools a free website with free hosting and a CMS. We then manage the right hand column of the website for advertising and share the revenue with you.
Q. What if we don't want a particular advertisement on our site?
A. Before each and every ad goes live, we send you an email notifying you 48 hours in advance, should you not wish to have the ad on your site, you may opt out.
Q. Who will advertise with sponsor-ed?
A. We have our own Code of Ethics to ensure advertisers are appropriately vetted. However the ultimate decision for whose ads are on a school's site lies with the school itself.
Q. We currently have a school sponsor and some local advertisers. How does this affect them?
A. We understand almost all schools have relationships with local businesses in their community. However we ask that no company's logo appears on the homepage unless they go through the sponsor-ed advertising department. Should you wish to manage and list your local sponsors and advertisers on the site, you can set up a specific page within in the site.
Q. How realistic your revenue projections?
A. The numbers are very real. They are based on what is already occurring in the online advertising space – so the numbers are established. The real question is can we as a group achieve the required web visits and also motivate the corporate world to participate. In theory, our collective experiences believe that we can do well but it will take some time to establish Sponsor-ed. It is very definitely based on economies of scale. The more schools participating, the higher the success rate and the more we can charge advertisers
Q. Please clarify whether revenue was based on the number of hits to an individual sponsor’s link on the site or to the site itself?
A. The revenue will be based on people that visit the site not clicks on the sponsor’s links. However, if people do click, then we would be seen as an attractive communication vehicle by the sponsors. There is a very definite and complex matrix of criterion that establishes how much a sponsor will pay. The better the content, the longer you spend on the site, the more attractive it is to sponsors.
Q. How do we receive our sponsor-ed revenue money?
A. In reverse invoice system. We will advise you for what amount to invoice us for after each advertising campaign, and we can pay you in your preferred method.
